The New 9th edition Florida Building Code is entering the final stages of development.

Information about the in-progress code development is

then follow the pathway by clicking “Propose Code Modifications” and the “Code Development & Hot Topics.”

The final version of the new building code will be published by the International Code Council (ICC) about the

summer of 2026. ICC website: iccsafe.org

December 31 , 2026 is the scheduled date for the Florida Building Code 9th edition 2026,

to be effective for new building permit applications.

Current Florida Product Approvals and Miami-Dade NOAs that are certified to the current Florida building

code 8th edition 2023 will need to be reviewed and certified to meet the requirements of the 2026 code.

The Re-certified Reports, posted on the approval websites, are used by project designers to demonstrate code

compliance to the new code.
